About CSAT & Treatment Approach

What is a CSAT?

CSAT stands for Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, a specialized credential from the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP). CSAT training provides advanced clinical skills for treating sex addiction, compulsive sexual behavior, problematic pornography use, and related concerns through a trauma-informed, attachment-based framework.

Treatment Philosophy

We use the term "compulsive sexual behavior" and recognize that labels can be harmful. Whether you identify with the term "sex addiction" or prefer other language, our focus is on understanding patterns, addressing underlying causes, and supporting your goals for change.

Therapeutic Approaches

Treatment integrates multiple evidence-based approaches including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and CSAT methodology. The approach is tailored to each client's unique needs and goals.

Treatment is structured around CSAT-informed principles for addressing compulsive sexual behavior. The practice integrates psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and relational approaches within a trauma-informed framework that recognizes the role of early attachment, developmental disruption, and nervous system dysregulation in compulsive patterns.

The practice draws from established therapeutic modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, attachment-based approaches, and group-based treatment models. Clinical interventions are selected based on individual presentation and treatment goals.

Her clinical work is rooted in a psychodynamic approach that understands sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior as often emerging from underlying attachment wounds, developmental trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. This perspective informs a treatment approach that emphasizes safety, containment, and the restoration of authentic relational capacity.

Evidence-Based Treatment

All clinical work is grounded in evidence-based practices and continuously informed by current research in the fields of addiction, trauma, and attachment. Treatment approaches are regularly evaluated and adjusted based on emerging best practices and individual client outcomes.

The practice maintains an active commitment to professional development through ongoing training, consultation, and supervision to ensure the highest standards of care.
